This resource is a Google Drive folder containing the following resources:
1. Introduction slides about author's purpose, including information on bias, fact vs. opinion, and modes of persuasion. Students will be introduced to all major vocabulary and concepts that they need to know in order to understand author's purpose.
2. Example and Review Slides for author's purpose, bias, fact vs. opinion, and modes of persuasion. This allows you, as the teacher, to go through and check-in with your students on their understanding of each key term/ concept. This contains real-life examples.
3. The Author's Purpose Packet allows students to work independently on applying their new found knowledge on the key terms and concepts.
4. The Author's Purpose Knowledge Check (i.e. a quiz or formative assessment) allows you, as the teachers, to assess your student's understanding of author's purpose.
All of these resources together will help your students master the idea of author's purpose and help students be able to apply their knowledge when they read a variety of texts. You now have a whole unit that you can implement immediately with your students.
